North London low energy retrofit of family home achieves airtightness of 0.6ach @50Pa

Our Clients had purchased a family home in North London that was in need of extensive renovation.  They were aiming to retrofit the property using the Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP, designed by Enhabit) with the EnerPHit retrofit standard to achieve high levels of comfort and energy efficiency and low running costs. 

The initial chosen contractor went bust during the build process, and Enhabit helped to administer the contract process and managed the transition to another contractor.

The property was insulated externally and the single glazed windows and doors were replaced with triple-glazed timber frame versions produced by Enhabit. The building achieved 0.6 ACH at 50pa airtightness levels and was ventilated using an MVHR system designed, supplied and commissioned by Enhabit.

Renewables of an air source heat pump and solar PV system were also installed.  The modelled heat demand is 19 kW/h/m2. We’ll be collecting actual data from the client to see how well the property performs.
