Our Head of Building Physics, Dr Sarah Price, is one of the main presenters of the new Retrofit Coordinator course. This is the official level 5 qualification as introduced in PAS2035: Retrofitting dwellings for improved energy efficiency. The PAS (available from the BSI) is sponsored by the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), and has been developed to improve the performance and outcomes of retrofit across the UK as a results of the Each Home Counts review.
The latest Retrofit Coordinator course, held at the University of Nottingham in February 2020 and delivered by Dr Price, had excellent attendance, with 27 participants from across the construction industry. There were some challenging questions as several members of the group were already experienced retrofitters, but this only added even more depth to the learning experience.
Some of our feedback from the Nottingham Course:
“Very impressed by quality of the training and organisation. I believe there is a strong demand in the private sector (home owner) for access to people with ‘retrofit coordinator’ expertise/training.”
“Found bootcamp (2-day course) very informative, delivered well and leave much better informed.”
The participants were asked to score the course between 1 and 10, and the overall satisfaction came in at 93%. Dr Price said “I am extremely pleased that the participants felt that they got so much out of the course. The Retrofit Coordinator qualification teaches absolute fundamentals of whole-house retrofit and is essential for the future of the retrofit industry.”
Dr Sarah Price contributed to and edited the Retrofit Coordinator Course and now teaches both the 2-day and 6-day course that is available from the Retrofit Academy. She has received excellent feedback on all of her courses and is in high demand as a tutor and speaker on retrofit.
