The Green Homes Grant scheme has been scrapped
Unfortunately, the Government has made a sudden decision to cancel the Green Homes Grant scheme. The Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) issued a statement late Saturday 28th March afternoon confirming that the green homes grant scheme would be scrapped, finishing on Wednesday 31 March 2021 at 5pm. BEIS has stated that: “Applications made before the end of March deadline will be honoured and any vouchers already issued may be extended upon request.”
Advice for Enhabit customers
1) If you have already applied for a Voucher but not heard back
You can contact the scheme administrator for an update. Please note that some of our clients have waited 2-3 months to hear back. Assuming that you are eligible, you should get your Voucher.
2) If you have a Voucher already
If you have a Voucher and haven’t yet told us or paid your deposit, please get in touch. Once we have the deposit, we can start work and will aim to install within 2-3 months. If your voucher is due to expire, you can request an extension.
Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
One piece of good news is that the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme for solar thermal and heat pumps is still operating and is currently in place until 31 March 2022. The RHI scheme gives the same total financial benefit as under the Green Homes Grant scheme for heat pumps, but spread over 7 years. The payback for solar thermal is lower and not quite the same as the Green Home Grant scheme.
If you choose an ASHP or solar thermal system through Enhabit, we will guide you carefully through the RHI application process.
