Oxford University/Qoda, Radcliffe Science Library EnerPHit feasibility study

Working with Qoda, the Norwich team provided the PHPP analysis on three different proposals for the Oxford University Radcliffe Science Library. With the creation of a new archive facility in the basement of the existing building, we identified how practical it would be to retrofit the entire structure, part of the structure or the archive facility to EnerPHit standard. We were lucky to have access to all of the archive drawings which helped us immensely to understand the unique construction types and the challenges we would be facing, including a subterranean drainage system built into the floor construction to deal with ground water removal. Our findings concluded that given the listed status of the building and the challenges faced in retaining the functionality of the space, the logical conclusion was to isolate the archive facility.
